Let Me Explain...

(I wrote this a week or so ago and have added some photos from my session with Madi & Austin! This was a shoot that was so encouraging for me. Getting back into your passion after an unexplainable break is hard. These two made it really easy for me to remember why I love what I do and want to pursue it more.)

I temporarily “shut down” aka didn’t pay for my domain and didn’t put the link up for my free version website anywhere to be found. Until now.

Money is something that is scary to talk about, frustrating to deal with, and I let it hold me back from so much. I always have and frankly probably always will no matter what my means are. This is a huge reason I let my website go.

In this time period of not having my website, I moved. It has been a long time coming. After college, I moved back to Texas with my own set of plans avoiding what I felt was really right. I never intended on staying at Anthropologie as long as I did.. it became my backbone, my little family I created was there, and that discount…. dear god I miss that discount. Anyway, the longer I avoided what I felt was right and kept trying to make it work in Houston, I just keep sinking into this dark hole of crying a few times a week and maybe hanging out with a friend once a week, MAYBE. I was in this continuous rut of not knowing what to do. After a failed attempt at leaving Anthro and getting a new job, it was finally time to take the plunge and move.

And oh am I so much happier. Oklahoma has always been this little safe haven for me. I lived here as a child before moving around as a military brat. Then, I spent my summers here with my grandparents. I then would come for thanksgiving once we moved to Texas. Finally, I came to see my sister every now and then who inspired me to go to UCO. Two years after graduating, I am back and it’s been so freaking healing for me to not be around heartbreak, the fast pace, and just a constant state of unknowns.

My nephew. This little guy has changed my life. He gives me so much hope and happiness and I am so happy to do life with him by my side. I literally couldn’t imagine being away from him.

Long story short… I took the plunge to do what felt so right, something I avoided for so long. A lot has fallen into place since then, too. I got a job the second day I moved back, and I am a pie server at Pie Junkie in the Plaza. I have had more photography opportunities here than in Houston’s competitive market. I’ve met some incredible people and have reconnected with so many friends.

There’s so much more to the story but to avoid losing you as a reader, I’ll end it by saying, I’m back. I’m ready to take on more photography jobs and get my website running to it’s fullest extent again. Photography will always be my favorite escape and I hope you enjoy what I do.
